Gary Martin

Position: Member
(Board Member since June 2008)

District: District 7

Background: Martin was born in Germany into a career military family. However, he completed much of his primary education in Colorado Springs, graduating from Widefield HS, before earning his Engineering degree from Kansas State University. After graduation, Martin spent his career, in and out of the USA, working on different Environmental and Electric Power assignments. Martin holds a Master of Science and 3 USA Patents.

Martin and his wife, with three children still at home, live in the Woodmoor Subdivision near Monument. His Father still lives in Widefield.

Board Experience: Past Managing Director and Board Member of an American Joint Venture, in Japan. Martin has held numerous positions as a Director on Executive Committees. Martin spent the first 20 years of his career helping Electric Power Utilities find new ways to generate Economical, Environmentally Friendly, Electricity. Most recently, Martin has continued his involvement, helping Industry maintain growth while minimizing their environmental footprint. Currently Martin is in a role of promoting the use of industrial waste to generate Economical Renewable Energy.

Statement of Position: “ I believe we must recognize that reliable electric service is a necessity of modern life. However, we do not have to make a choice between Low Electricity Cost and Green Electricity; we can have both. I will work to make sure MEVA continues its tradition of providing reliable service, at the lowest rates, while protecting our environment.”
